To really learn about a country and its people, spending time “off the beaten tourist track” is the best way to gain true understanding. The Kingdom of Thailand, a popular, safe, inexpensive and exotic tourist destination, is a place where educated English speakers, willing to teach English, are always in high demand.
Teaching opportunities in Thailand for native or near-native English speakers range from full time paid positions to volunteer teaching positions in schools. Where you will want to teach depends on your level of idealism, interest in making a difference, and appetite for adventure.
Our organization has been training individuals wanting to teach in Thailand since 2001. We are licensed and accredited by the Thai Ministry of Education and Teacher Council of Thailand, and are in the process of completing our nonprofit foundation status. With more than 15 years of experience sending adults overseas for various educational experiences, you are in good hands with us.
Make a difference: Teach!
Teaching opportunities in Thailand:
Option 1) Thai Welfare Education School system
Ten Thai Government run boarding schools in Northeastern Thailand (Isaan region) taking in abused, orphaned, abandoned (due also to disabilities in cases), and otherwise unwanted children in need of someone who cares. Each school is situated on a very large campus and has very dedicated teaching staff and administration, some of whom speak English.
Option 2) Thai Government Schools in Nakhon Sawan and Chainat provinces
Thai Government Schools in two provinces (about 3 hours North of Bangkok) would love to have a native English teacher at their school. Parents have collected money to afford this foreign teacher and housing is provided by the school, including transportation to and from home and school.
Option 3) Thai Government and private schools in Bangkok and suburb
Thai private and public schools in downtown and suburban Bangkok, the vibrant, interesting yet hectic and polluted capital city of Thailand, are always looking for certified US teachers. Due to the extreme shortage of qualified foreign teachers, recruiting agencies have been luring backpackers and globetrotters who fit the Thai image of a foreign teacher (preferably fair skinned and native English speaker) to teach in Thai schools in this capital.
